Calling all Humanities students! The McMaster Humanities Society (MHS) is inviting you to check out Arts Matter Week from February 27 – March 6. The largest event hosted by the McMaster Humanities Society, Arts Matter Week is a week-long event featuring different faculty department programs every day of the week.
The McMaster Humanities Society is the student government of the faculty, with all positions being held by fellow undergraduate students. This student body is in charge of providing guidance and opportunities to Humanities students, representing students in McMaster politics and government, as well as planning and hosting student-run events for the whole faculty.

The Joy of Experiencing Art
Thursday, February 28
MUSC 313 – 9:30 to 12:00pm
Are you feeling stressed and looking for a way to relax? Well why not come out to this event and release the inner child in you! Join the MHS as they join up with a group of talented elementary school children to explore different visual, performance and musical art forms. You’ll be guaranteed to have a great time with these kids!
Thursday, March 1
Lyons New Media Centre, Mills Library, L411 – 12:30 to 3:30pm
Come on out to the Multimedia Showcase and see what your fellow Humanities students have been up to this past year. Multimedia students will be showcasing their work for your entertainment, as well as offering you other fun activities to participate in such as a photo booth, video games, a green screen tutorial, free Tim Horton’s hot chocolate, and more!
Monday, March 4
MUSC 203 – 10:30 to 1:30pm
Are you interested in pottery and painting? Then join the MHS for a free lesson in pottery painting! This event is free of charge and all humanities students are welcome. There will also be free cake served at this event, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the McMaster Humanities Society!
Wine and Cheese
Tuesday, March 5
MUSC 314/315 – 6:30 to 9:00pm
The annual wine and cheese event stands out on its own as a day of class and prestige. This social mixer is open to all Humanities students to attend, where they will be welcome to not only enjoy some wine and cheese, but be entertained as well by an exhibit of various student artwork and music ensembles. Tickets are on sale at compass for $5. Your ticket includes a drink ticket, a buffet as well as a night of entertainment. Dress code is business casual/semi-formal.
McMaster Humanities Majors Fair
Wednesday, March 6
MUSC Atrium – 11:30 to 2:30pm
Are you a first year student deciding on what major to pick for your second year? Well come out to the McMaster Humanities Majors Fair! Taking place in the Student Centre Atrium, professors and students from different humanities majors will be present to talk to first year students who might have questions about a particular major offered at McMaster. So come on out to this event and get some more information on the majors that interest you!
